ISN'T THE CONTRACT SYSTEM A BIT TOO COMPLICATED?
--It seems more complicated than it really is. In fact, in the first season all players will fall two contracts: a Standard Two-Year Contract or a one-year Free Agent Contract. Any player you draft in the auction draft is automatically signed to the Standard Two Year Contract. At the end of the season when you declare keepers, a player under the two-year contract is obligated to play another season without a salary increase. The player's salary is the amount you bid for him in the auction draft.
Any player not drafted in the auction draft is considered a free agent. A free agent is signed to a one-year, Free Agent Contract and his salary is $1. When you declare keepers at the end of the season, you may re-sign the free agents to One Year Extensions, but you must raise their salaries from $1 to $7. At the end of their One Year Extensions, they must be released.
Note: If you release a player you drafted in the auction and he falls to the free agent market, his two-year contract is broken and he can only be signed to a one-year Free Agent Contract.
If this still sounds a bit too complicated, don't worry. Your players' contract statuses will be posted on the Legends League forum/website under "Contracts and Salaries."
