Arbitration and Downtime... Money_10
It's all about the money...

All of our players have now either filed for arbitration or settled with their clubs. It seems that a large number of players filed this season. Most of us have at least one player on our roster who wants more money. Jonathan Ferris' Men's Men team has some greedy men on his squad. Four players from his team filed!

The next phase of the arbitration process is the hearings which will be held February 1-15. Owners win about half the time. Those of us who lose to our players will have to raise their salaries by three bucks or drop the players.

For those players who settled...owners will have the chance to extend their contracts. I'll have more on that later.

ESPN will undergo a "downtime" over the next few days. I, too, will have some downtime beginning tomorrow, January 20th. I am undergoing eye surgery and will be out of commission for a few days. My trusty co-commissioner, Shoeless Joe, will monitor the league and be my "eyes" while I'm recuperating. I should be back in time for the next Commissioner's Challenge which begins February 1st. Until then, catch up on your baseball news if you haven't already...Spring training and ESPN's 2011 Fantasy Baseball are coming soon!

Off-season Notes:

No free agents may be signed. Owners may propose trades as normal. Players may be dropped at any time. Those players will go into the 2011 Free Agent Auction scheduled for March.
