The Indianapolis Colts football team recently set the record for most consecutive regular season wins without a loss. But have you ever wondered what baseball's longest winning streak is.
It turns out that Major League Baseball has one of the longest-standing winning streak records in all of sports history. In 1916 the New York Giants won 26 games without a loss to set the record. It wasn't without controversy though. During the streak the Giants tied the Pirates in the second game of a doubleheader 1-1. Back in those days, MLB did not count ties and tossed the game out.
The longest winning streak in Major League Baseball without a tie is 21 games, set by the Chicago Cubs in 1935.
Those two records have been around a long time and seem unbreakable. But...did you know that a team made a run at those records within this past decade? The Oakland A's won 20 consecutive games in 2002!
