Arbitration is in full swing in the Majors, and now it's in the Legends League, too. Some players have already settled with their Major League teams while others are still holding out for more money.
In Legends League Baseball, 48 players are eligible for the process. Here's how it works:
1) Each GM is presented with a list of eligible players
2) Those players may be extended at a reduced price until midnight, January 31st
3) If you extend a player, the arbitration is settled for that player
4) If you choose NOT to extend a player, the process reverts back to the player's actual MLB arbtration case
5) Players who settle with their MLB teams will require no further action
6) Players who take their teams to arbitration hearings, will cost their Legends League owners money ranging from $1-$5 based on the hearing results
Fortunately for us, nearly all players settle with their Major League teams and avoid arbitration. As owners, we can end the player's arbitration by extending him at a discounted price. Players who normally cost $3 per year can be extended for $2, and players who are normally $8 per year can be extended for $5.
The reduced price is good through midnight January 31st and only applies to players who are eligible for arbitration in the Legends League. Players are eligible if they have less than two years left on their Legends League contracts and are eligible for arbitration in the Majors.
